Heroes finished the season (the series?) with as much of a bang as Tim Kring could muster, given the direction the plot took this season.  Things I liked (spoilers ahead):

  • Hiro realized his damsel (Charlie) no longer needed to be rescued and that she had had her happy ending, and also that there were real consequences to his time traveling attempts to right previous wrongs.
  • A practical use for Ando’s supercharging ability presented itself.
  • Somebody (Claire) finally decided to quit trying to hide in the shadows and went public.

The show ended with …To be continued…  hopefully it is continued, but  NBC has not yet renewed Heroes for another season.

What I didn’t like:

  • It felt rushed, like they were trying to fit too much story into one episode (because they were).  Where did Tracy Strauss suddenly come from to save the day at the last second? Oh, Lauren called her off camera. When the last time we saw Lauren she was wandering around the empty former carnival site NOT knowing where Bennett and Claire were.  Much too convenient.
  • Along the same lines, Hiro and Ando resolved the Charlie storyline just in time to receive a call from Bennett to show up in Central Park and, wait for it, help save the day at the last minute.  Much too convenient.
  • Sylar is much better as a villain than a hero.

I’m relieved the carnival storyline is finally over.  As I’ve said before, Robert Knepper plays Samuel as a fantastic villain, and should the show be renewed I hope he returns.
